April 16, 2008.. well, what a day. It was perhaps the only time that I was truly disappointed to wake up in the morning. I honestly hoped that I'd never wake again and never have to deal with the world. I had done something that deeply offended someone, more than I thought I could have possibly done. I didn't think what I did was so bad, but apparently they did. It wrecked me because I care so much about other people; for me to harm someone is something I cannot easily forgive myself for. My life was kind of tumbling in general. I wasn't sure when I'd return to Illinois, my grades were going to hell, my friendships were falling out and I was falling to pieces. I sometimes don't know how I made it out of that without any lasting damage, or made it out of that at all. I'm glad I did though.
April 16, 2009.. a beautiful day. Weather in the upper 60s (much warmer than it has been for quite some time,) sunny skies and great things going on. The first night of my play is tonight and I think it shall be spectacular. I get to judge the Wisconsin State Student Congress tournament for forensics tomorrow; that will be a good time. Saturday is the Wisconsin State Forensics tournament which I will help to run, and I will also be doing my play again in the evening. Sunday is a band concert, so that should be cool. In great contrast to the romantic disaster that I had one year ago today (which was the horrible thing above,) I now have a girlfriend named Emily. I'm so happy that things worked out because I had fancied her since last June. I had to ignore it and that wasn't a good feeling, but no longer must I do so. Classes are going very well as of late. I'll probably end up with about a 3.7 or 3.8 GPA, which isn't the worst thing ever. Things will quiet down after this week and I'll be left to wind down this wonderful freshman year of college. Life is good today.
A year really makes a difference. It doesn't feel like that long, but I guess it really has been quite some time. I think that life has gone in a very positive direction. Here's to sunny skies, starry skies, smiles, cake, crayons and the beauty of the world around us. Here is to the 365-day journey.
